On December 12, 1985, Yvonne Menke, a 45-year-old mother of four, was shot at the bottom of an apartment stairwell in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. The killer left small boot prints in the fresh snow. The next day, Mary Jo, the former girlfriend of the man Yvonne was dating, handed police her size five Arctic Cat boots.
The case went cold for 37 years. In January 2023, two Wisconsin detectives sat down with Mary Jo Bailey at her kitchen table in Arizona, with a body camera recording on the table. She had no idea what they had brought with them.
