Former Indiana sheriff Jamey Noel has admitted to a staggering list of crimes fueled by his gluttony and greed, authorities say. Noel acknowledges stealing at least $5 million in public funds from the Clark County jail and a nonprofit fire agency he founded. He also was a powerful state and county GOP leader. He used the stolen money to buy a private plane, $800 belts and 130 classic cars. For some reason, he also bought himself a train.

noel served as the sheriff of indiana’s clark couny for 8 years.

in august noel agreed to plead guilty to 27 felonies acknowledging he stole more than 5 million in public money .
he used those funds to buy desinger suits, lavish vacations and meals .
and more than 100 classic cars . a private plane and even a traine.
the judge in noel’s case wants to hear from ordinary residents before sentencing to prison.
for many in clark county who know jamey noel,justice seemed to be riding a very a very slow horse.
the rural county has a population of around 120.000
its operating budget this year is 49 million dollars.
jamey noel’s last salary as sheriff was 169, 000 dollar , more than 40 times the average county sheriff’s income according to a government salary watchdog group.

noels wife misty and their adult daughter casey have also been charged with multiple counts of stealing tens of thousands from the nonprofit fire agency jamey noel founded. they pleaded not guilty
Hope noel was married to jamey’s brother leon for 4 yeas.
leon noel died in 2018 and jamey was named executive of his his estate state investigators alleged jamey stole tens of thousands from his brothers’s children- he has denied those allegation .
all of leon noel’s heirs have sued theur uncle in civil court. jamey noel has not been criminally charged with stealing from the estate.
community activist shawn bostock says he has been helping state investigators uncover jamey noel’s web of corruption .
he was contactedby the indiana state police early on because he knew the player, the investigators were all from out of town ,they knew nobody involved and shawn’s name came up to them a few times.
people lost their lives that is the biggest thing jamey mismanagement costed staff, the necessary equipment that they needed to do their job in damage and potential of death. because of noel’s negligence ,secondarily public trust , law enforcement has just tanked.

Noel’s defense attorney read each count aloud to the court, as he agreed to plead guilty to theft money laundering, tax evasion, and other felonies.
