Just three days before father´s day an unimaginable crime took place on a quet street within the tranquil village of New Richmond , Ohio.
A place that could be reminiscent of any peaceful suburb in America.
The nature of this offense was so deeply disturbing and appalling that the prosecuting attorney was comeplled to request the highest bond amount ever recorded in the county´s history
What was the motive of this unthinkable act? Let´s dive in.
In a village of new Richmond , in modest house ,along the 1900 of block of laurel lindale road ,lived the Doerman
the family included 32- year -old chad,his 34 year -old wife , and their three young boys
Seven year old clayton , four year old hunter and thtee year old chase.
Also living with them was mrs doberman´s daughter from a prior relationship.
Doerman children were wull of vibrant energy and were exeptionally close.
They enjoyed the company of their beloved. dog ,loved baseball and supported one another through thick and thin.
On June 14th, the boys were in their happy place on the baseball diamond after wrapping up their latest game.
Kristen Bennet , the president of the local youth baseball league , recalled an observation she made as the Doerman family prepared to depart.
Like any caring father, she said she watched shad instructing the boys to buckle up in their cars seats, minding their safety.
It was an ordinary , unremarkable moment, a scene that blended seamessly into the farbric of countless families on the ball field.
However ,the fate had a different moment in store fot the seemingly everyday family.
On Thursday ,june ,2023,amids cloudly skies and temperatures hovering around 81 degrees, life in New Richmond followed it´s usual suburban American routine.
However ,this day would prove to be far from ordinary, when int the late afternoon, a teenage girls was observed sprinting down a road with fear etched on her face.
Her dessperate cries for help piercing the air.Her goal was to reach the safety of a nearby firehouse, seeking refuge from an uniimaginable threat.
At precisely 4:18 p.m a concerned passerby driving along the road witnessed a teeange girl running and overheard her yelling.” my stepfather is killing everyone!”
The driver immediately contacted 911.
Deputies were notified by radio dispatch of the terrifying news.
A man had gone on a shoting spree
The target? his own children.
Officers arrived at the home on Laurel Lindale Road within minutes.
Their furst task was to secure the scene.
After ensuring the crime scene was secure, additional deputies carefully assessed the area .
In ha heart -wrenching discovery. they came upon three young gunshot victims in the yard ,their condition unresponsive and critical.
Adding to the tragedy,the boys mother was also located outside the residence , bearing a gunshot wound to her hand ,bravely sustained while trying to protect her children.
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, immediate medical attention was provided amd she was swiftly transported to nearby hospital for treatment.
During the subsequent investigation, detectives learned that Doerman allegedly,first killed four year old hunter by shooting him twice whilde inside the family gome.
At that point the seven year old clayton ran into a field behind the house but was chased and shot from behind by his fatherDoerman approched the injured boy and fired off two more rounds.
Finally , three year old chase was the last to be killed after he was ripped from his mother´s arms
community members was stunned.
According to a pres release by the Clermont county sheriff´s office,Doerman was charged with three counts of aggravated murder after confessing to executing his three boys with a rifle.
Doerman was transported to the clermont county jail after being interviewed by the detectives and was held without bond .
The following day, he appeared at the clermont municipal court for a bond hearing.
One week after the shooting a clermont county grand jury returned additional charges in a 21 -counts indictment against Doerman.including nine counts of aggravated murder , eight counts of kidnapping ,and four counts of felonious assault.
According to the indictment, Doerman commited the murders with prior calculation and design, confessing to planning for several months.
Doerman pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Perhaps recognizing the futility of such a request , Doerman´s attorney chose not to pursue the bond.Ultimately , judge victor hadden ordered Doerman to be held without bond.
After the grand jury proceeding.clermont conty prosecutor mark Tekulve made clear his intentions for prosecuting Doerman
mark j tekulve:“First and foremost , i can´t go into a whole lot of facts because this is a death penalty case, and my goals is to have this man executed for slaughtering these three little boys.it is an incomprehensible act of horror. he perpetraded on this family so again, that is my most important focus right now is to ensure that they are protected and they are safe.my hope and wish and prayer is that someday we will abe able to find peace. but factually, i´ve said what i said on the record and i´m gonna stick with that.

mark j tekulve:i´ll let the facts speak for themselves .he slaughtered his three schildren in the most brutal fashion you could imagine as i mentioned in court.um the ” extra work”.. is no extra work at all.it´s what we do. this merits our attention and our devotion and our efforts.

MOTIVE?
Weeks after Doerman allegedly lined up his three boys and shot and killed them with a rifle, one obvious question lingeres -why?
At present, authorities have yet to establish a motive for the slayings.
According to his father , keith Doerman , who spoke with the New york post recently, he and his wife are stil trying to comprehend how chad could have murdered his children.
When asked directly ,he said:
Delving into chad Doerman´s background we can examine the public recod for potential clues . His criminal history includes a second -degree misdemeanor charge of ” criminal damagin” at 18 years old.That case was dismissed after he paid 1,136 dollars in restitution.
In 2010 ,he was charged with domestic violence for allegedly choking his father ,but the case was dismissed later that year when the prosecuting witness failed to appear.
He also amassed approximately a dozen traffic infractions and violations related to speeding.
According to an article by the local news outlet WKRC, they did some digging into Doerman ´s public records. they filed an open records request with the clermont county communications center, which revealed that police had been dispatched to the Doerman residence twice since 2020, exluding the most recent incident.
Unfortunately, no details regarding the nature of those prior visits were provided.
Additionally ,WKRC filed a records request with children´s protective services to inquire about any referrals , requests, complaints ,or calls associated with chad Doerman or his adress

Lastly , a search of the county auditor´s website showed that Doerman , purchased his home ,
a converted manufactured home on three acres of land for 75, 000 dollar and the family was up to date wit property tax payments.
