Michael Dewayne Smith (41) is scheduled to be executed in Oklahoma on April 4, 2024. Smith was convicted and sentenced to death for the murders of 40-year-old Janet Moore and 24-year-old store clerk Sharath Pulluru on Feb. 22, 2002 in separate incidents when Smith was just 19 years old.
UPDATE (THURSDAY, APRIL 4, 2024): Michael DeWayne Smith was executed this morning by the State of Oklahoma. His official time of death was 10:20am local time. A spiritual adviser stood by Smith at his request. When Smith was asked if he’d like to speak any last words, he’d only said, “Nah, I’m good.” Smith also declined to request a special final meal. This was the first execution in Oklahoma this year. The next execution scheduled in that state is that of Wade Lay on June 6.
